Ben is a Geelong-based Sound Engineer with more than 10 years of experience delivering high-quality sound production across a wide variety of genres. He specialises in providing sound design and operation for live musical theatre and plays, but is also adept at providing consistently and high quality sound production accross a wide variety of performance environments. Including: Concerts, Festivals and both indoor and outdoor events.
Ben also owns and maintains all of his own equipment, allowing him to provide high-quality design in spaces without effective sound infrastructure. Continuously rising venue costs have seen the need for many theatre companies to be more creative with the spaces that they utilise and, to support this idea, he has curated a large amount of exceptional quality sound reinforcement equipment to help transform such venues into effective performance spaces.
Ben prides himself on being meticulous with a focus on continuous development, all without being pretentious, and believes in a working environment that is open to discussion and welcomes constructive criticism to help all interested parties work together to achieve the best possible outcome in any live performance situation. Coming from a well-educated musical background, he also understands the need to create a supportive and inspiring performance environment to help enable performers to perform at their best when in front of their audience.
Ben also believes that any performer who is brave enough to step onto the stage, regardless of their experience or ability, deserves the support of a skilled sound engineer. This is particularly important when working in a school or learning environment, where performers are often nervous about performing and taking the limelight for the first time.
